Red Teams

A Red Team is a thought-excercise to evaluate weakness in one's own defenses. Red Team personnel put themselves in the mindset of the adversary and plan the best method(s) of achieving the adversaries objective. The upside is a good understanding of the adveraries potential moves, the downside is that Red Team members are often ostricized and otherwise treated as the enemy and trust is often lost. Often, Red Teams pull their punches due to wanting to stay in the Blue Team's good graces. Red Teams may be as simple as a few minutes of lone contemplation to war games over the course of weeks with thousands of participants.

Virtually every military surprise/loss may be traced to poor Red Teaming.

So, what if you were to sit in Osama's cave for a few minutes? Your goal is to place yourself in the position of power you so richly deserve. That means no Western opposition. The only way you'll be allowed to hold open power is to remove the US as a world power.

You have resources. Two billion muslims support you and a few percent will die for you. You have contacts and respect all over the world. Some of your colleagues are about to develop nuclear weapons. What do you do? Do you conduct a few suicide bombings in the US, so security levels are raised? Or do you keep your powder dry until you can simultaneously detonate ten nukes in ten cities?
